Calculators cannot be found at the test center and you aren't able to lend a calculator.

Quick Facts

  • Only the calculators mentioned on this webpage are acceptable for the Math Test--Calculator section of the test.
  • You are not allowed to make use of the calculator while working on the Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test--No Calculator sections, and you must put away the calculator away during these segments of the test.
  • You'll be disqualified and your marks canceled should you utilize your calculator to give out details during the test or to take test questions or the answers from the test room.

Calculator Smarts

  • Bring your personal calculator. You can't share one.
  • Don't bring a brand new calculator. Bring a calculator that you're familiar with. Make sure you practice for the test using the same calculator you'll be using on test day.
  • This Math Test includes some questions in which it's best not to make use of the calculator even though it's permitted.
  • It is helpful to perform scratch work on the test book. Get your thoughts down before using your calculator.
  • Check that your calculator is in good working order , and that your batteries are new. The test facility will not have batteries or extra calculators. If your calculator fails during testing and you don't have a backup then you'll need to take the test without it.

Acceptable Calculators

If you own any calculator with characters 1 inch or more, or if your calculator has a raised display that might be visible to other test-takers, then you'll be seated at the discretion that of your test instructor.

Only handheld devices powered by batteries can be used for testing. There are no power cords allowed.

Calculators permitted during testing include:

  • The majority of Graphing Calculators (see chart)
  • All scientific calculators
  • Calculators with four function. (not recommended)

Unacceptable Calculators

You aren't allowed to make use of any of these items as calculators: calculator:

  • Laptops, computers of other kinds, tablets, mobile phones, smartwatches or wearable technology
  • Models that connect to the Internet and have wireless Bluetooth or cellular audio/video recording and playback, camera, or other features of a smartphone.
  • Models with a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad, pen input, or stylus
  • Models that make use of electrical outlets, emit sound or are made of paper tape
  • Furthermore, the use of hardware peripherals such styluss with an approved calculator is not allowed. Certain models that have touchscreen capabilities aren't allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
